From an outsider here in the UK I was pretty surprised to see the line up of ordinary fixtures for the Anzac Day.
Why on earth would you send a low profile Qld team to Auckland or the Cowboys to Newcastle? Canberra away to Souths FFS. Canberra at home to a high profile club on Anzac Day is also a no brainer. Isn't it your national capital?
What was the point of splitting up a banker full house at Melbourne (v NZ) for a half full Mount Smart? Then also run a half full AAMI park?
A Broncos-Titans may have topped 50k etc. In the end what you had was 10 hours of run of the mill fixtures and no kind of special feeling at all. Perfect for coach potatoes not for the game.
Just felt like one big mess of a celebration. It could have been something brilliant. Quality not quantity is the way to go.
