Watching Brett Morris in the first 2 rounds he looks like a world beater from the FB position - take a closer look though and the coaches tactics/coaching are def built around involving Morris at least 1-2 times in backlLine moves during any given set.
Looking at it Morris under the coaching of Hasler could prob become a $1m player from his current $600k valuation - this is based on the the Hayne valuation .
On the other side of the coin you have Josh Dugam valued at $750k a year and playing like a $300k a season player - no where near the form of his Raiders years.
I put this down simply to how the coach is coaching him - there is no structure to Dugans involvement - it always seems adhoc - no set mOve to get him involved from the FB position no nothing..
The only time Dugan looked vaguely dangerous was in the centres sitting outside Benji who is a gun attacking playmaker.. And made Moltzen look dangerous when at the Tigers!
The point of this post is that a quality coaching set up knows how to maximize a players raw attributes and converts their talent to make the overall team Perform at its full potential.
Our squad is good enough to make the 8 but it's obvious that players like
Dugan
Widdup
Farrell
Nightingale
Thompson
To name a few are not performing to their best as the coach doesnt seem how to maximize their talent..
Our mgt have at this early stage made an error in appointing Mcgregor.. He can't attract players to play for him (see Foran and Eels situation) , he can't coach the team to attack in a structured manner as evidenced on the first round .. He"s clueless as is the team..
I hope I'm wrong but u can't tell me good coaches don't make a difference ..
