It appears Souths are going to continue to exploit the concussion laws to give their front rowers a breather. Already Ben Lowe who was hardly touched and Tom Burgess who to be fair copped a decent whack have gone off for a free spell to get a breather in the first half. This was a key tactic at the back end of the season last year.
They did it 3 or 4 times against the Roosters in the final round match of the season, each time forwards running off after being on the field for approx. 20 minutes, the usual time to be rotated. Also regularly doing it in other matches at the end of the year. Amazingly the one guy who got the biggest high shot in Sam Burgess in the Grand Final did not leave the field, although obviously there was no benefit for Souths to take him off after the first tackle of the match.
