The Warriors will offer Ben Henry a new contract to keep him at the club next season.
Henry is out for the rest of the year with another serious knee injury and it will mean he would have played just 21 games over a three-year period, because of injuries.
The club could have come to the conclusion that Henry was too injury prone to be offered another contract, but Warriors general manager of football operations, Dean Bell, said they have started negotiations with the one-test Kiwi for a contract for 2016.
"We are pretty keen to keep Ben on," Bell said.
"He's obviously been very unlucky over the past few years and he's a player of great integrity. He's certainly got a lot of talent but hasn't ever had a consistent run, because of injuries.
"Every time he is fit he shows what he's capable of and he's very versatile too. He's got the right attitude, he's a really good pro, a lovely young man and it's important that we'll keep him around.
"We'll discuss it over the next few days and hopefully we'll get it sorted."
Bell likes to think of Henry as being unlucky, rather than injury prone, and says the club have looked at what sort of person he is in coming to the decision to hang onto him.
"You look at the individual and he's come back from a knee injury like this before and went on to play quite a few games," Bell said.
"But he does everything right and you take into account the person as well. He might be one of those guys who gets a few injuries early in his career and never gets another one, hopefully that's the case."
Manu Vatuvei played his 200th game for the Warriors yesterday and he'll go down as one of the club's all time greats. On the other wing during this time several players have come and gone with mixed success and it's unclear what the club's future plans are for the right wing.
However, Bell revealed that if David Fusitu'a didn't have a shoulder injury he'd be wearing the club's No 2 jersey.
"Without a doubt if David Fusitu'a was fit that would be his position at the moment," he said.
"He showed last year in the games he played that he's a great athlete, he scored some spectacular tries and he had a really good preseason where he got bigger, stronger, faster. Unfortunately he's had this niggling injury, but we've had high regard for David."
Ngani Laumape is another option on the wing as is Glen Fisiiahi, who is in the last year of his contract. Like Henry, Fisiiahi has had a dreadful run with injuries and when he comes back from a shoulder injury he'll be playing for his future at the club.
"As we all know," Bell said, "the teams that win premierships have a lot of depth and it's certainly our aim to keep our best players.
