Club CEO Scott Seward unveiled plans on Wednesday for a $100 million entertainment precinct between Parramatta Leagues Club and Pirtek Stadium. The development will include: * A six level carpark for 1500 cars; * A six storey, 200 room hotel; * A precinct that will include a fitness and aquatic centre, bars, cafes, restaurants and ten pin bowling centre; * A completely revamped Leagues Club; * An upgrade to Pirtek Stadium or possibly a $400 million knock-down, re-build which will accommodate 35,000 fans. Parramatta is also building a $26 million high performance training centre at Old Saleyards Reserve, 1.5km from the stadium. It will house two full-size training fields, cafe, community facilities, education class rooms, child care and medical facility. It will also be home to the Parramatta football club offices. Parramatta will pay for the new precinct, while the Government will be asked to assist with the training facility cost. Eels officials have asked that a light rail line to run from Parramatta Station has a stop outside the stadium. “It’s massive,” said Seward. “This brings us back into the game.” This isn’t a proposal - it will happen. The team start training at their new facility this weekend. Over the next three years, the high performance centre will be built and completed. Parramatta hope the entire precinct project will be completed in six years. “It will secure our financial position as a club and as a powerhouse,” Seward said. “We have to be brave and have a red-hot crack at it. Parramatta is the capital of western Sydney so let’s give it the stadium it deserves.” The new development will create more than 300 new jobs. “This $100 million development will be one of the most exciting ventures in our club’s proud history that will see us provide members with services and entertainment to rival any other club in Australia. It will ensure our ongoing financial security for decades to come,” said Eels chairman Steve Sharp. “On Parramatta Stadium I share the same vision as the members that this should be a complete sports precinct that the City of Parramatta and the people of the greater western Sydney can be proud of. My commitment to this cause will be unwavering and the club will be at the forefront of lobbying Government and stakeholders into matching our investment.” Parramatta Leagues Club CEO Bevan Paul added: “This investment will transform Parramatta Stadium and the Leagues Club into a world class sports and entertainment precinct – an unrivalled destination for western Sydney.”
