So upon looking at the draw for the opening rounds of the season, one thing I noticed in particular is this.
The Bulldogs get five consecutive games at ANZ Stadium between rounds 4 and 8. They come up against Tigers x 2, Souths, Dragons and Manly. I understand that the Tigers for some reason enjoy taking big games to ANZ, as well as the fact that Souths and Bulldogs share the same home ground. So even when they play each other away.....they still play at home. Also, Dogs don't have to travel interstate until round 9 when they head to Townsville, and after that have just three other matches outside of NSW (Round 11 in Canberra, round 14 on the Gold Coast and then round 22 in Brisbane.) So this means they avoid the dreaded trip to Melbourne and NZ.
So that will be 4 interstate matches out of 24 regular season games.
The Roosters dont leave NSW after a trip to NZ in round 14. After that they have all their matches in NSW.
Meanwhile on our side of town, we cop three consecutive away visits to Newcastle, North Queensland and Manly in rounds 15, 16 and 17, then a home game in round 18, before we travel to Canberra in round 19 and then Auckland in round 21.
How is this fair?
